Default blood sugar level 139

Before bed my blood sugar is 139
My apps that I keep track of blood sugar levels and show the doctor. I take Metformin 1000 mg a day , to night it was 139 and my app shows that it's in the red that it's high . I thought it was low or normal sense I'm taking the medication it should be lower right ? I'm still learning about all this , should I be worried ? I've heard of others up in the 200 mine can be high at night and in morning it's anywhere from 69 to 120 which I'm hoping is normal , I got a appointment in three weeks to see my doctor so I can talk to her about it .. But till then I'm wondering ?

Welcome to the Forum!

A blood glucose level of 139, is not that bad, but I personally prefer my average to be around 100.

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

Normal Blood Glucose:

Fasting BG 70-99 mg/dl
BG 2 Hours After High Carbs < 140 mg/dl

However, most of us will have to settle for this: See Healthy Blood Sugar Targets

What concerns me a little bit is you said your blood sugar is between 69-120. You should always take care to not let get your sugar below 70 or above 400 for fear of heart attack, diabetic coma or heart attack. If you find your sugar is near. 70 or below out of bed in the am then you might want to start having a snack before bed like a yogurt fry example to prevent your blood sugar from going some low and depending how long you have been a diabetic your medicine dosage may need to be adjusted as well. Otherwise your 139 is ok before bed. People who are not diabetics will have blood sugar rise to 180 after eating a meal and within 2 hours afterwards have have blood sugar of normal levels within 2 hours after eating (90-120). So your blood sugars sound fine but just keep an eye on your early morning sugar as I said because you have to stay above "70" because that is the point of no return. I hope this helps you have a better understanding of it all. Wayne

I was taught that my bs should be no more than 140 at bedtime, so that's seems ok to me. What I would like to know is that before or after the evening snack?

Well everyone's body is gonna react different tithe meds so for example if your currently going to bed at blood sugar 140 with no snack and waking at or near 70 in the am then I suggest you eat the snack at bed with sugar of 140. I say this because I recall you saying that this is all new to you and if you are a new diagnosed diabetic then it's gonna take a month or more to "dial in" your meds because your body needs to balance itself out as well. So as this happens you may find that your meds will either be increased or decreased by your doctor depending on how you respond to meds. I hope this helps ...

Don't be alarmed at 140. I have been type 2 for 6 years now and there have been times my numbers were as high as 570. I take Metformin 1000mg twice a day and 30 units of insulin at bed time. So be happy with 140.

Default Blood sugar level reduction by moringa

Nowadays there are so many people suffering from high levels of sugar in blood.
I have heard about a tree named moringa with one of functions of reducing blood sugar level. People call it "superfood" but i am wondering its benefits with other functions.
My aunt has used moringa effectively in making level of sugar in blood reduce considerably. She used moringa in the shape of powder and used everyday. the blood sugar level has reduced from 140 to 70 in more than a month.
I know the results depending on each person are different but I think moringa is such a good medicine for us in healing many diseases.
