Newly diagnosed
I was just diagnosed with T1 (kinda) new years eve (about a month ago). I knew something was going on, lately I was urinating frequently, insatiable thirst, some blurred vision. All of these symptoms had been developing over a week or two. At a party i asked a relative to test my bg as their child has t1. My bg was 480 after just having finished dinner. I went to the hospital, was hydrated, 10u insulin, and Metformin pill. 2 hours later I was on my way home with just enough information to get me by and a bg of 311. Since then I have been taking Janumet 50/500 twice a day and taking 10u Levemir at night. My average bg for the last 2-1/2 weeks is 94. I even had a low a few times in the 65-75 range. Now my dr. has taken me off the long acting insulin and kept me on the Janumet 2 times daily. I am pretty fit, playing hockey and walking/jogging weekly. Anyone else in the same boat, really not knowing what my diagnosis is? My guess is that it's LAAD. I tested positive (low) for GAD antibodies and my C-peptide level was in the low normal range. I feel great and am eating very well.

I am pretty sure this is what I have(1.5), we are treating it with the Janumet only at this point (i was taken off long acting insulin last week) and my 7 day average is around 94 now (really hasn;t changed from the long acting and Janumet combined therapy). I have found studies suggesting early bolus insulin treatments can really prolong the "honeymoon" stage. Other studies suggest any treatment that takes the stress off your pancreas has lengthened this stage. IDK, I guess just listen to my Endo and keep reading.
