So I have read in many places that Almonds lower blood sugar naturally. Obviously I would never replace this with meds. Last night I went to a work dinner that served a meal that was ultra high in carbs. I made sure to eat some almonds during the meal and my numbers seemed to be lower than if I normally ate a loaded carb meal. Anyone have any experience with this? Trying to see if this is true or a fluke on my part. If so, I will definately be incorporating Almonds into meals.

I don't know about the almonds lowering blood sugar, I have not heard that before. I am sure that the answer is on the internet in the form of a Google search. I can tell you that almonds are a great snack and I usually eat a hand full before going to bed, to offset the dawn effect.
It looks like almonds may help. Here is my search.

I read up on the above links so I thought I would try and see what happens and true enough at least for me my bg is lowered. The other day had a little scare though I tested right before working out and my bg was at 60 I don't know if it were the almonds I ate an hour before or the creatine 30 mins before or the combo of the two but bg was back to normal at 80 after my work out. So I think the almonds work they are just a bit expensive but very beneficial ill post more info as I trial it some more

I've been eating almonds since my last post and yes almonds lowered my bg every time I tested. I usually eat about 10-15 almonds after all my meals. Now just for clarity I eat very healthy high protein low carb and low fat meals and three small high protein snacks, I'm also a total gym and fitness rat so my bg is usually pretty good, however with almonds my bg is awesome my average for the week is around 100 mg/dl consistently except for one day where it dropped to 54 mg/dl after a run. But other than that it works for me so I'm gonna stick with it besides I need a good fat source which almonds have.

For most people, I think almonds help if they replace a high carb item. From my own and my BIL's experience, having almonds every day had no effect on blood sugar even after three months. Having some with a carb snack such as an apple can keep your blood sugar from riding as high, but anything with fat will do that.
