Some times I take Janumet, if I am running low on my other drugs. Basically, it is a mixture of Januvia and Metformin. The Metformin is what usually causes stomach and diarrhea problems with some of its users.

I was diagnosed a month ago, with an A1C of 11.5. I started on 500mg metformin twice a day. After only two weeks on it, my doctor wanted me back for more blood tests. My BG went from 270 down to around 120-130 in that timeframe, and my A1c was down to 10.2. She told me that I was in the right direction, but my numbers needed to be lower. She bumped my metformin up to 1000 twice a day, and wanted me to start taking Januvia 100 mg twice a day, along with the metformin. After researching Januvia and seeing the class action lawsuit linked to Merck for cases of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, I refused to take the Januvia. My BG is averaging in the 120's now, I've lost 12 pounds, I bought the Bayer A1CNow SelfCheck meter, my A1C is now 8.4.
