mother of 1 1/2 yr old with Type 1
Hello. My baby boy was diagnosed in November with Type 1 diabetes. It's been very scary and stressful learning how to properly care for my baby. I've learned a lot but there is so much I still don't know. Long road ahead.

Welcome to the Forum!
I am sorry to hear of your son's diagnosis. There are several parents here that are walking the same path. Please feel free to share information or ask for help. Look for a diabetes support group in your area. Here is a website that may help you find a support group in your area. Good luck with your son's control and management. I wish you both well.

Thank you so much! It's great to know I have support from people that are going through the same thing. I will definitely look into a local support group. Thank you!

Just to let you know a young diagnosis is not always negative. My husband was diagnosed in 1947 at the age of 2 in a refugee camp (ex pow camp) in Germany. He is still going along ok and his dr's reckon that he is in reasonable health given it is now 66 years living with diabetes. So in a lot of ways your child is lucky to be born now when there have been so many advances made in the treatment and monitoring of diabetes. Regards Juls
