insulin pump
I have been using a pump since 2005. Prior that I used the usual mix of pens with fast and slow acting insulin. The pump gives me much more control. I can easily calculate meal bolus and easily adjust the basal. I swim 1.5km each day and can go without the pump for the hour this takes without problems - I just loosen Rollers

Insulin Pumps
I think the email got a might scrambled. It should have read:
insulin pump -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been using a pump since 2005. Prior that I used the usual mix of pens with fast and slow acting insulin. The pump gives me much more control. I can easily calculate meal bolus and easily adjust the basal. I swim 1.5km each day and can go without the pump for the hour this takes without problems - I just loosen the insulin barrel when I start swimming and reconnect an hour later. This ensures the basal amount remain constant. When I travel, I don't have to worry about time-zones much, I just reset the pump clock to the destination time, and the problem is fixed. Are there draw-backs...yes, don't swim with it on....I did this once in Toronto...not a good idea. Ian |

I've been on pump for 16 yrs im a young 47 yr oldale and for the past 2 yrs I've had alot of issues w high sugars due to all the scar tissue damage from my sites. I have very little fat and can't place my silhouettes in a comfortable area anymore. I just stated taking shots again (Lantus & Apidra) ,this weekend :-( Wish there was another alternative ! I'm having to take a total of 9 shots a day, so far. This is gonna suck !
Looking for options !!! Thank you |
