The 80 mg/dl - 120 mg/dl is within the normal range, anything below 70 mg/dl is considered a low or hypoglycemic condition. It would be best to discuss this with your doctor/care provider, before deciding not to take the meds.

Type 2 diabetes thus not much of a serious and harmful condition in itself, but produces various complications for the body as a result of the abnormally high sugar levels in the blood. It therefore becomes important to reduce blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes to prevent further complication of the body.
Metformin for type 2 diabetes treatment has been regarded as the safest and most effective solution. Unlike, other diabetes drugs that may cause damage to the kidneys or result in a fatal condition called hypoglycemia, metformin is relatively free from these serious and harmful side effects |

My experience with Metformin is that it isn't an optional thing. You want fairly consistent numbers. A lot of things factor in to that: body mass, blood chem., how much insulin your body does produce, etc. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR! Please. I've read in a number of rep. studies/papers that most Dr.'s use 80 as the boarder between normal & hypoglycemic.

Never stopped taking your medication without talking to your doctor first. The 80-120 is a very good range. I've been on metformin for about 6 months. The diabetes educator told me that blood sugar should be 80-120 before eating and no higher than 180 after eating. Mine was 152 before metformin and now 90-120 before eating and 100-150 after. You're numbers are very good. You're doing great!!
