Default Should I get a second opinion

Back in July of 11 I had a physical. My A1c was a 6 and my fasting Glucose Level was 137. Dr said come back in two weeks after watching what I eat and drink. I did and my Fasting Glucose was 128. About three weeks ago I went for a check up with another Dr and my A1c is still 6 and my fasting glucose was 128. Dr informed me I had high levels of Protein in my Urine and wants to start me on Meds. In the mean time I am checking my Blood Sugar at home and all numbers are perfect. About 85 out of bed 110 after a meal & 85-90 at bed time. I am focusing on my a1c being 6. Something doesn't seem right to me. I am classified as type 2. Any Help? I should not, i only spike to my Dr over the phone and have not back up with her yet, because i am traveling.

Do some research for yourself and then make the determination.

Here is the information for protein in urine. Here is the information on Diabetes - normal blood sugar.

If mine was that low I would watch just what I ate. No drugs at this time.

Default travel equals uncertainty for me

Dano listed great links to ponder. When the protein starts to spill pay close attn. You mentioned travel. Keep in mind the A1C is cumulative over a 90 day blood screen. Not sure how it works but I had a brutally honest nurse who told me my "Lie Detector" test was 9.2. That's what the endo refers to it as. So keep it in mind the glucose buddy can give spot on recording and I think discussing all your options are better than meds since ur soooooo close to.ok.

I.find the following things make my bgl spike so much so, its why I had highest ever a1c and HOSPITAL STAYS to get regulated for them: sickness, carbs loading. Not one meal but travelling and having bagels, burger, casserole and snack by end of day I might be 120 but chances are I was 399 aftersupper and that ON THE 90 DAY avg is losing prop, pain of med or any kind, any sterroid or shots, many meds. Also walking actually lowers 200 pts for me. Just have to stay with it.

You sounnd very succesful working and that's a recipe for me to.slip. hard to believe but doing well has celebration and careless behavior. I am tryig.to.use glucose buddy to.team up with the diabetic nurse and kick this.pig! I am certain you will make.it if you put your mind to it!

BE WELL!

Jimmy, what are your numbers 1 hour and 2 hours after a meal? Maybe that's where your high numbers are. If you don't see any really high numbers there in a few days of testing, try testing at 1.5 hours and 2. I discovered that mine were peaking at 1.5. (They're now peaking at 1, but that's a different story.)

My fasting numbers are around 100-110, but my post-meal (post-prandial) numbers have gone over 200 quite a few times (highest was 248).
