Default Can't get fasting #s down

I was diagnosed T2 in December after my gestational diabetes decided to stick around. My A1C was 6.7 when diagnosed. I'm 5'5" and weight 125, and have always worked out daily. Since being diagnosed have started on a low carb, high protein/high fat diet. My doc put me on 500mg of Metformin in the morning and evening. All my post meal numbers have been good but I cannot get my fasting #s down. They consistenly range from 105-125 (that was the highest I've had in a long time). I have a 7 month old son who never sleeps through the night so I'm always up in the middle of the night with him. I notice when I'm up with him that I am hungry and always wake up hungry. I have a snack before bedtime every night and experiment with what I eat but nothing seems to be bringing it down. I'm getting so frustrated and scared. Any suggestions?? I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a follow-up so will ask her again but hoping others have advice in the meantime. Thank you.

Take a look at "Dawn Phenomenon", see the tag below or use this link if you need more information. It can be very discouraging.

If you are up several times during the night with the young one, I am sure that this could play a part. Several people have found that eating a small snack before bed helps. I see that you are currently doing this. I have found that a hand full of almonds works for me. Good luck in your search.
