Hello from England
Hello all,
I'm Wil and my son, Cam, was diagnosed with Type 1 last October. He'll be 7 on Friday and has adapted to it really well, even telling his Mum and I what things he should and shouldn't eat and refusing sweets at school. We recently moved over to counting the carbs and injecting at every meal which is fine but I now have to pop into school each lunchtime to give him something for his mid-day meal. The school are OK with testing his blood (which he pretty much does himself, anyway) but not so much with giving him an injection. I'm not sure what's going to happen on school trips All in all we're coping OK although it's sometimes disheartening when no matter how carefully you weigh and measure out meals and calculate injections the numbers just don't play nice. The app is great and I'm finding it much easier to log data than in a little book. Would be nice if I could put liquid food measurements in .ml rather than having everything in grams but it's no biggie. Nice to be here. I feel for you all in the States with the cost of all of this. We're very lucky over here in that respect. Wil |

Wil and Cam;
Welcome to the Forum! I am glad to hear that Cam is adapting so well. Does his school not have a School Nurse to help with his injections? If not, it will not be long before he can manage his insulin injections for himself. I am sure that the blood sugar bouncing around will subside once he gets out of the "Honeymoon Phase". Take it from someone who has been in your shoes as well; it does get better, but it is still a full time job. Good Luck with Cam's control and management. I wish you both well, with many great times together. On Friday tell Cam HAPPY BIRTHDAY from all of us!
