Default Reverse neuropathy?

I am on 500 mg metformin and have some occasional neuropathy numbness and tingling. I've read somewhere that vitamin B12 and ALA (alpha lipoid acid) can help reverse mild neuropathy symptoms. Has anyone tried this and what was your experience?

Default Vit. D, exercises and lipoic acid

I have tried using alpha lipoic acid and it did not help me though you can see in the article that it can help.

Be careful with the B complex. B6 and B12 overdose can cause nerve problems as well. Most supplements contain 100s or even 1000 time RDA.

I would recommend Vit D3 as well and a magnesium supplement.

It would be best to get these levels measured in blood test so you know where you are.

I had to stop all supplements with B6 or B12, even a multi, as both levels were off the charts on my labs, and my nerve probs have now mostly disappeared. I eat eggs, meat and nuts which have plenty of B.

good luck.

Thanks for the info ! Does a GP do the blood tests or do you have an endocrinologist.

Thank you do much. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I was just put on the pump and I still set my alarm in the middle of the night to test but I'm getting better. Even though...for instance my blood sugar is 122 and I'm testing it frequently so I can catch it just in case it goes low. I guess it will take time to get used to but I hate the feeling of lows. The shakiness and that low feeling is awful.
