Default Hello From Florida

Hi,

I am an RN. I am only 28, am not excessively overweight, and have no family history of diabetes. Imagine my surprise when my A1C came back 7.6 last week. Since then I have been perusing the suggested blood sugar 101 website and have gained some insight into the non-clinical side of things.

I go to the doc on Monday. Hopefully, by then, I will already be well on my way to controlling my blood sugar with diet and exercise. I am testing before and twice after meals (at 1 and 2 hours post) and trying to figure out what foods I can and can't eat.

This is definitely a new situation for me and I'm hoping I can beat it and end up a used-to-be diabetic.

I am hoping to gain some support from this community and help to lower my A1C from this app.

Thumbs up

Temperance;

Welcome to the Forum!

Janet's website (Blood Sugar 101) should help you a great deal. I assume that you will be using the low carb diet and testing several times per day. I believe that a low or medium carb diet is essential to all people with diabetes and is dependant on what each person needs to achieve. The 1 hour and 2 hour post prandal testing will help you to know what foods you can and should not eat. You are on the right track! Good luck with your management and control.
