Default Hypoglycemic Newbie - and hormonal?

Hi All,

I was diagnosed as hypoglycemic probably back in the late 80's without testing. I explained my symptoms to my doctor and he said that the test is pretty long but that he felt fairly certain that I was hypoglycemic. I monitored what I ate and adjusted accordingly. It is not a science and so I learned by trial and error what I can and cannot eat. Well, a few years ago I passed out and my husband whom I have been with since '95 made me go to the doctor. We had walked to the beach to eat dinner. I did have one cocktail which was probably the poison pill for me on this particular evening. No mystery for me but my husband never witnessed this and was very upset when he caught me just before I fell to the ground. My doctor asked me to start testing but I didn't want to bother with the inconvenience. Well I am about to turn 50 and have noticed that incident marked some kind of change. I think hormones are affecting my blood sugar. I have a theory that it affects woman who are small like me while we are going through these hormone changes. And for the last year, I am cold all the time (does the cold thing precede the hot flashes? just one of many questions).

I am now testing (today was the first day and I did it before breakfast). I got this app to log my results. I figure I will test in the mornings (doctor did not specify) and when there is an episode for now.

Anyway, I was hoping to connect with others with similar attributes (female, hypoglycemic, small, healthy, and possibly hormonal) and maybe share experiences. What works for you?

Thanks,
Hypoglycemic Newbie in Florida
