Default New - Type 2

Hi, I'm new one with Diabetes type 2, my A1C was in the last test 12. I repeat it and it lower to 11. My doctor gave me metformin. I have appointment next January with my endocrinologist. Im so scare to get insuline, but my BG is allways from 79- 134. Is that a good sign or what?

Welcome to the Forum!

HbA1c's of 12-11 equate to an average blood glucose of 297-269 mg/dl, respectively. Was this test administered by a laboratory? The (79-134) range that you mentioned is nearly Normal. The HbA1c test is very good at determining you overall average for the last 90 days. I think that you are missing something with your testing. I would assume that the test range, that you previously mentioned, is during your waking hours. I think that you will find much higher values during the night, therefore, you should try testing during the night. It helps to set alarms periodically, to help you with this, as you sleep.

Education is the key to fighting diabetes. Please read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, as this information will help you as you begin your education.

Good luck with your control and management.
