Default I'm a Newbie and My Finger Hurts!

Hi! My name is Jason but you can call me J. I have not been officially diagnosed as a diabetic. I have has a few health issues over the last few months. After doing some reading I learned that I have the signs of Diabetes. I checked my BG and it was 305. Then after dinner I checked it and my BG was 396. Then yesterday after going 8 hours without food my BG was 200 then I ate Dinner and waited w hours and my BG was 298. Then this morning I checked my BG before eating anything and my BG was 270. I called and made an appointment to see a dr. I have not doing well with the idea of being a diabetic. Am I over reacting or should I be concerned. ((stressed))

Welcome to the Forum,Jason!

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but good for you in taking the initiative to test and make your own diagnosis.

You are right to be concerned. Diabetes is not a death sentence, it is merely an inconvenience. Read and learn all that you can on your condition. The meds will help a lot and a good diet may help as well. Good luck with your control and management.

Hey J! Yeah man, diabetes sucks but it is definitely a disease you can live with! I was diagnosed when I was 17, mind me asking how old you are?

As long as you can get organized and a bit "OCD" with charting your BG and foods you eat, it's a very reasonable disease! (if that sentence even makes sense lol)

Good luck to you! Let us know what the doctor says

Default Nobody likes having diabetes

I am proud of you for making an appointment, thats the first step in taking care of you. Nobody likes diabetes and nobody wants it.....but its up to each of us to try and manage it and control it. If you doctor confirms what you already suspect, educate yourself, I mean jump in with both feet and take charge of this. I can totally relate, I ducked the issue myself and wanted no part of it....but thats not an option. Good luck!
