2nd pregnancy, gestational diabetes diagnosis
Today I was told that I have gestational diabetes...again. I had it with my first child, he is 18 months old now. I'm currently 27 weeks along and I failed the 3 hour glucose tolerance test that was given to me on Monday. Tomorrow morning I am going to be picking up a prescription for a brand new meter and test strips. I'm not shocked or upset about my diagnosis since I was expecting it again (most GD women will have GD again in subsequent pregnancies). I am actually pretty excited about using the Glucose Buddy to monitor my levels so that I can show my doctor. It'll be a useful tool to help me have a healthy pregnancy. I just wanted to say hi to everyone on the forum and good luck to the rest of the moms out there who are dealing with GD!

This is my second pregnancy as well and asked to be tested early (around 13 weeks). I was just diagnosed a few days ago and already started my GD diet. My levels have been pretty good so far. I visit with my nutritionist on Monday so I will be going in with my food diary and my blood glucose levels. I only gained 8 pounds with my last pregnancy due to having GD so I'm hoping for the same this time around. Finding out this early might be a challenge but I will stick with it for health reasons for myself and the baby.
Good Luck! |

Same issue, 2nd pregnancy with GD, 30 weeks today. I feel a little more empowered this time around. Doing 10-15 min light cardio after each meal and finding that sugars are in check! Any tricks that anyone else uses? Could really use the advice! Thanks!

Good luck and congratulations to you all. Just a bit of advice for after pregnancy, continue to chk levels. I was GD with diet control with 1st and then insulin dependent with 2nd. I am thin and active so they ruled out T2 and checked autoantibodies. Diagnosed T1 2 months after delivering my second child. Monitoring myself after having him saved me from DKA. To often doctors release GD mothers and assume all is fine after the pregnancy.
