I was on it for about 6 months and then developed an allergy to it so I had to switch to Lantus

I had the opposite problem, only it wasn't an allergy. I've been on levemir for over a year...maybe two now. Anyway, I was on Lantus before that, and it didn't seem to do ANYTHING to my bg. It was always running high. I seemed to react better to the levemir, so that's what I've been on. It seems that it's starting to not work as well as it used to though.

I take Levemir twice a day. I have not had any problems with the use of this drug.

I don't know exactly what kind of information that you are looking for, but there is a wealth of information to be had on Levemir by simply using the google search tool.

Hi, I was just put on basal Levemir (8 units at bedtime to start) as of yesterday. Took my first injection last night. Unfortunately my bg readings during the day today were sky high, which I just don't understand, unless it takes a while for this to kick in. What are others' experiences with that, did you see an immediate effect or did it take a while?

I also take Januvia and Diamicron, which my doctor didn't discontinue for the moment.

Thanks.
