Default Type 2 Pregnancy

Hello everyone, I am type 2 and I am having thoughts of how pregnancy goes, is it hard to be diabetic and pregnant? Or is it normal if you got the right care and treatment? Also I am on metformin so while pregnancy is it necessary to switch to insulin? Please let me know, anyone with experience. Thanks!

Default Pregnancy

I wouldn't worry too much, metformin should work fine during your pregnancy, if is working now. Make sure both your midwife and your diabetes team know when you are pregnant and they will help you keep control of your sugar levels.

Your diabetes should have no effect on your baby, just keep an eye on yourself.

I had a high risk pregnancy with my daughter. I spent from 22-31 weeks on bedrest in hospital. Was on insulin from 22 weeks 4 times a day. My sugar was up to 15.6. I took both metformin 1500 mg per day throughout for my PCOS, and insulin at the same time. My daughter was born at 31 weeks. Her lungs were more immature than other babies at her gestation. This is typical of GD babies. Organs and lungs mature at a slower rate. So when born premature they can struggle a bit more. And there is a higher rate of still birth in type 2 babies. Keep having your ultrasounds to monitor baby, take your meds, eat right. And baby should do fine. As long as everything is well managed.
