I just got diagnosed as a type 1 last Monday. Does any one have any experience going through the med board process with diabetes. I am an active duty us coast guards men.

Great question! I was diagnosed three months ago, and my doc just told me that a med board is mandatory (I'm active duty army). However, I've found out that the key is whether you can do your current job. In my case, I can, so I'm hopeful about the board process. I'll be looking to see if anybody else has any comments on this.

Well as of this week I was told I am no longer allowed to serve on boats. Kinda a big deal in the coast guard. I was told by my doc that the med board process is going to take almost a year and will probably end in a medical discharge.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I've heard it takes a long time, so I hope during that time things work out for you.
