Question Don't want to start meds

I was given a wake up call with a FBS of 180 ... followed by a A1c of 7.6. last week. I am watching what I am eating (following Sparks People Diabetic diet where I can track my food intake and exercise) and have an appt with a dietician in three weeks. I've lost ~8 lbs over the past three weeks and increased my exercise (from 0 to 30). I really don't want to start taking medications. Has anyone been able to manage their BS with diet and exercise and what are your secrets.

One curious thing is that my BS is at it's highest "right out of bed" when I haven't eaten anything for 10 or so hours...any help with that mystery would be appreciated.

I love this site so far and have been tracking my BS. First time on a forum, appreciate any help or advice you can give.

Marge
