Default Sudden raise in morning blood reading

I was doing just fine with the fbg, on average 110's and 120's ever since being told I have T2, which I find manageable. About a month ago, I was taken off Tricor. I've read where Tricor doesn't really do anything one way or the other concerning low or high blood readings, but I'm not too sure. Two days after I stopped taking Tricor I started to get fbg numbers in the 140's to 170's and they haven't gone down. Then I had to have a tooth removed and my numbers are still high. I've talked to my doctor and he put me on 2 metformin 500mg in the morning and one at night (had been taking one twice a day). Been a T2 for 2 years now. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Cj
