Default introduction

Hi my name is Diane. I was diagnosed November 2013 with Type2 Diabetes. I've been overweight all my life and always figured I would be diagnosed eventually. Upon diagnosis I was prescribed medication. Also prescribed blood pressure and hypothyroid medications as well.

In February 2014, i nada TiA (aka mini stroke). While I was I. The hospital for 24 hrs my blood glucose was checked before and after every meal. My numbers were in the range from 220 to 280 the entire time and they were giving me insulin shots.

Shortly thereafter I started getting weird pains and sensations in my feet. A friend toldme it's probably neuropathy, but that has yet to be diagnosed by a doctor.

In June I stopped taking all of my meds because I felt like they were a waste of time and money.

I've been watching the amount of food I eat. Cut down on soda from multiple in a day to 1 or 2 per week at most. I also nearly eliminated top ramen (only 4 packs since June) from my daily lunch.

Things had been going well. I lost 43 pounds, a couple inches from my tummy, and started feeling better overall.

Well on Friday I had pancakes w/syrup for the first time since being diagnosed and my body started acting really weird. About 1 to 2 hours after eating, I was lethargic, sweating profusely, couldn't concentrate, and just felt plain ole icky. Mind you I hadn't tested in months. I went to a coworker who also has type2 and asked what it feels after you eat too much sugar. He said he didn't know because he's never really had super high numbers. Well I did a accu check and my numbers were at 280. When I got home from work 2 hrs later I was still feeling bad and decided it's time to start making more changes, starting with testing at least 2x per day. That's how I ended up here.

Sorry if this was too long, but I guess I really needed to talk about everything.

Thanks for listening and I hope to get to know some of you!
