Default Recent Spike

I had been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I having been checking my blood levels on an occassional basis since. About five years now. My A1C ranged up and down from 6.3 to 6.8. Due to have it checked again next month. Two days ago when checking my glucose level it was 275. In the past five years I have only seen it over 200 a few times. Being concerned I have been checking regularly for the past two days and it is averaging about 175 with quite a few over 200 reading. I usually average about 130 to 140. Could there be a particular reason for this sudden spike, should I be concerned.
