Default any vegans with type 2?

I was diagnosed in June of this year with type 2. My A1C was 14 and I was having times when I could see absolutely nothing but blur. I spent the next month just low carb dieting with no meats except chicken. My sugar stayed at 220 and barely fell. The doctor kept saying it takes time and so on but it didn't help my discouragement. A friend of mine said try a vegan diet just for a week. As a last resort I did. Completely cut out everything and went for it. After a week my sugar went down to 100 in the morning and it stayed around that every single day. Even if I ate my favorite foods randomly like pizza in moderation it would only send my sugar up to 130 no more. The results have been amazing! I have loads of energy taking on 5 college classes, full time work, and caring for a disabled husband. I can't even believe I almost passed on this lifestyle change because I didnt think I could go with meats etc. it has been a great experience and a recommend it to anyone trying to get their diabetes under control. I was diagnosed in June with my A1C being 14 Then a month not really accomplishing much to one month as a vegan and my A1C dropped to 7.5. My doctor was simply amazed! Of course check with your doctor before starting any kind of diet. Just thought Id share my experiences!
