Default New Diabetic: confused and overwhelmed

Hi,

I just recently found out I was a diabetic when I was sick with a horrible sinus infection! Apparently, through taking steroids my sugar sky rocketed to 540 and i immediately rushed myself to the hospital. Who would of thought a sinus infection would bring out the truth.

Now I'm entering this new world I am so overwhelmed with what I can eat, what I can't eat and so forth! My main goal is to get off these meds. I'm so tired of being told about potential blindness, losing limbs, etc. I'm on 36 and I feel like I have a long way to go to beat this already. I've been taking meds for a week now and my sugar won't get below 200. Please give some advice.

Thanks,

Stressed out "newbie"
