newly diagnosed T2, as of Nov 2015
Hello buddies,
I am 56. Since being diagnosed with Type II diabetes November 2015, I have established lifestyle changes that caused my A1c to decrease from 7.6 to 6.1. So my endocrinologist says I don't need Metformin.
I want to know the best strategy for halting the progression of T2 diabetes so I won't need Metformin or insulin or other diabetes medications in the future. My endocrinologist says it depends on my genes. I might progress no matter how aggressive I am with diet and exercise. So despite my progress in controlling the diabetes, I feel depressed and discouraged about the future. How can I keep from losing anymore beta cells in my pancreas, or even, if possible, replenish the beta cells already lost?
