Default realistic rate of decrease in BS

Hi. I've just been diagnosed with T2 on 12/23. My blood sugar was at 400 but as of 12/27 is 160 in the morning and around 200 during the day. I'm taking insulin shots and the pill. I'm frustrated I'm not going to 100 when for the past for days I've changed my diet completely, working out, and taking the medication. Is my expectations unrealistic? How fast should the change in lifestyle and medications work? Any input would be appreciate.
