Default Working to get control of Dia 2 - but bad news

I have had diabetes 2 for a number of years but have not been serious about doing what I can to get it under control. I am very over weight, 5'9", 300#, male and call from my doctor says my A1C test from last week came back 9.8.
I know very little about diabetes but I do know this is not good and very dangerous since the diabetes has the upper hand right now along with my obestity, I am likely going to make my wife a widow. I hope I can pull this out because she will have to carry a large burden if I am gone which will leave her with no income to live on plus debts I created. She does not deserve this. I have really messed her life up. If I am to go, hopefully she will find someone fairly quick to be a friend and better lilfetime partner than I ever was.

The doctor wants to see me tomorrow about the test. Since May 2 I have committed to healthy diabetic eating, drinking more water, walking every day and enrolled with the Diabetic Management Center at the local hospital. Since I started monitoring my glucose levels, they are at least going down. Example: first fasting level was 261. Fasting level this morning was 163. And levels after eating are coming down also. So hopefully I will have enough time to get control.
