Default newborn with hyperinsulinism

I realize this forum is intended for parents of children with diabetes, but I am finding it difficult to find a place to discuss hyperinsulinism which my son was born with a month ago. His pancreas produces too much insulin causing chronically low blood sugar levels. We currently have him on a medication to 'shut off' part of his pancreas, but still have to check sugars each time he eats and keep glucagon shots on hand. I was wondering if anyone has experience with diabetes/hyperinsulinism in newborns? I find managing this a bit difficult since he cannot articulate how he is feeling. Spit up, illness and sleep patterns all affect us. Would love to hear if others have any experience or expertise? Thanks!!

I am sorry to hear that this has fallen on your son. Have they determined which form of CHI he has? Here is a document of the different types. More information is available at Cook's Children Services. I hope the information is helpful.
