I think that all the counsel for the drop It! App falls on deaf ears.

I am not so sure that it would be used by preteens. Think back when you were a wee lad of 6; where most of your T1 diabetes decisions not made by your parents? This would include the major things like when to check for DKA, insulin dosage, blood testing, food calculations for bolus injections, etc. I can see where a carb counting program, to help them make wise decisions on nutritional food choices might be beneficial. The post-teens can pretty much use the adult versions of software, for their T1 needs, and all they really care about in the video games is how many cyber villains they can kill.

Medtronic has a fun app for young children that has different games like which food has the most cards or creating a meal with a specific number of carbs and my 5 year old T1 loves playing them.

I'm new to the apps but my dr asked me to use myfitnesspal and I really like it. Love the scanner and the way I can enter my own recipes or foods to save.

Great food tracking app with carbs
I use Livestrong.com's app which shows calories and nutrition for foods in their database which is quite extensive - and FREE. It also allows you to enter weight, blood sugar and workout information (time, calories, heart rate, etc) and graphs your carbs and other nutritional data. The only reason I use GB is the graphing functions are superior - although they don't work on my iPad and iPod since GB still insists on using Flash.
