Default peripheral neurapathy

I was recently diagnosed with type 2. I have terrible burning, numbness & electric shocks in my hands & feet. Everything I can find out about this says it happens after many years of high blood sugar, but I haven't had this for years. I would appreciate any comments or ways of managing this pain.

Peripheral Neuropathy can be caused by diabetes, an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), vitamin deficiencies and several other causes. There is a lot of information here. I hope that the information helps.
