hi all
new ish to injecting insulin was on max oral meds for 12 years began on lantus solo star after 2 months moved to novomix 30 been on it about 3 weeks nurse educator has been gradually increasing my doses this is happening very slowly approx 3 units a week slow because i am blind [NOT diabetes related] i began on 30 units-now on 40 units lunch and late dinner[i am not an eater of breakfast]. current readings fasting morning readings 11.0 -13.5, lunch 10.o 12.5, dinner 9.0- 11.0, b4 bed 15.0-16.5 QUESTIONS 1 I want to move this along a little faster. Can i eat a small breakfast inject at 3 meals a day? 2 as i currently take 80 units total can i start at 3 x 25 doses? 3 would a small bowl of unsweetened cereal with no added sugar be enough to activate the insulin? 4 is this 80 unit dose getting high? 5 how high can people go on novo mix 30? 6 what is the 'best' reading i should be looking for? ie I'd be happy to average 7.5-8 at each reading! |
