Sounds like pumps have changed i used pumps during 2 of my pregnancies ,the set up wasnt too bad as i was carb counting already ! But couldnt get funding to keep it full time so had to hand it back after birth both times only really had it coz i lost a baby boy because of wibbly control ! So they put me on pump to stablize when i caught pregnant again .

There is alot to learn when switching from injections to a pump and at first it can be very frustrating. Carb counting and just learning how the machine works. You also have to get use to being attached to a pump 24/7. This won't be an easy process but believe me once you get the hang of it all it is fantastic. I have been in the pump for 5 years now because I work shift work and hate eating the regimented meals when I was in injections. I travel alot and get my family to send me my supplies as needed. You have more freedom on a pump and I don't think u will regret the decision. My control is good and my Hba1c is usually 5.8-6.2

You can usually get a pump of some kind if you want it but yes they require you to check like 8 times per day until you are all calibrated lol you can go online to minimed etc and they usually have a demo so you can check it out or call them and they can send you a pamphlet I also had an initial cost way back when I first got it but my insurance pretty much covers everything now
