I'm pretty much prepared for myself. But, she can recognize the low's and will remind me to check my blood and eat. For my bicycle races she carries extra supplies for me, and will meet me along the route for pics and as a "feed station".

Some of you fellas have it far to easy!! As I was diagnosed at 12 (T1, 27yrs) I was given most of the responsibility for my own care.. Plus, now, the added responsibility of baring/raising my children and telling my husband 'what to do'.. (Not a role I enjoy!) I'm stuffed!!! I hope you all show your sig others your appreciation on a regular basis!!! (They are after all the Type 3's in your family!!)

You fellas that don't carry your own stuff are lazy. Your partner is not a mule. Have bring some HypoFix for emergencies, but carry your own gear, it's your disease, take responsibility for your own health. I have stuff in the car, my backpack, my pockets, stored at work and at home. I think it's terrible you don't carry your own stuff, you make all men ashamed.

I agree with you that it can be a part of the relationship that makes it stronger. It is important that your partner knows a lot about your condition and can support you in it. however, I'm not sure about storing my supplies next to a bunch of candy haha.

Was diagnosed T1 in december. The day after I went to the hospital and checked out tons of supplies. After getting home, sorting out a days ration of measuring unit, test strips, needles and insulin pens, I went out and bought me a "man bag". My wife don't follow me around all day like some do, if I understand this thread right? I carry my own stuff, why wouldn't I?

I carry all my own stuff. I have an iPad so I found a case at our university bookstore that is awesome. It carries my iPad plus all my supplies. Carrying a man bag is no big deal. Now that iPads are becoming the in thing a lot of guys are carring a bag.

I to go the "Man Bag" route typically..
I have a roll of glucose tablets in the Wifes car and purse, but these were at her request.
Get a man bag! Women have been much smarter than us for a long time guys! Screw what your buddies might say! I have my Nook, glucometer, emergency supplies, a spare pen of novolog and tips for it, my ipod, camera and a small note book and pen and then some other little incedentals..
Only time I dont carry the bag is when hiking (everthing fits in my 60L backpack) or when rock climbing (Cargo shorts for the meter and emergency stuff)

I'm always asking my ladies to carry my stuff around for me! Their purses are just too big and versatile : )

It's just nice to be able to throw in my meter, a bag of needles, and they never mind carrying around candy! Plus, when trying to get into shows, they never question them, but always give me a hassle when they find the needles.

I actually have my own bag for my stuff but it is just too small to house my supplies.

I think that women's bags are just geared to carry all the stuff their partners would need. They also get lesser questions when trying to go somewhere.

Though I agree at the post above mine that it is a pain that they have to look for smaller components as they usually get lost inside the wilderness, that is the bag.

My wife puts my leather diabetes pouch in her bag when we go out to eat - it has needles, alcohol prep pads, the Novolog pen and a small pill box with my metformin. She wears a good sized bag, and we do things for each other that matter.
We keep glucose tablets and granola bars in both cars.

That's how we roll.
