Default Type 2 diabetes

You would think having both parents with this that I would be a pro! I was there caregiver and controlled them beautifully. Lost my Dad in 1992 & my Mom in 2012. December of 2012 I found out I was Type 2 . My A1C was 9 I fell apart this is not happening to me. Well my Doctor said that since my parents had this it was only natural that I would get it. Plus I had gestational diabetes . I thought I would be on shots but my dr said that she would try me with Metformin & Glipazide . With in 3 months I was able to get my A1C down to 7.6 I don't know how because I have a hard time with carbs. That is my enemy.
Now it being 3 years later I at 7 I just can't get my carbs yet. Sorry it is a long post but I just wanted to share some of my back ground
with this dease. I found out it is always harder when it is you than someone you are caring for.

Welcome to the Forum!

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.
