Default gastric bypass surgery

Has anyone had gastric bypass surgery where you have significantly reduced or eliminated type 2 diabetes?

Gastric Bypass surgery is the best weight loss operation in the u.s.. It's counted more secure and more effective than all other weight loss surgeries. When followed by behavior difference through vitamin and physical exercise, stomach get around surgical treatment can lift the quality of life.

I wonder if anyone who says gastric bypass survey is the best weight loss operation has actually had it? My wife did 5 years ago, lost 160 pounds (>50% body weight loss) and has kept it off so I would call her a "success". It also exposed us to many others who have had this survey through support groups and the general public. Based on what I've seen, less than 10% of the people who have this surgery experience long term weight loss as most everyone gains back the weight!

Why? Bypass surgery is not a magic bullet. All it does it reduce your stomach's capacity, not your ability to consume calories. If you don't make a corresponding long-term lifestyle change then no surgery is going to make a long term difference. Just consider the surgery an expensive, painful, and life-changing diet. Sure, you'll 100% lose weight to start but 2-3 years later odds are you'll have gained much of it back.

If you have the willpower to make the necessary lifestyle changes to support this surgery and have no medical reason for not losing weight, then apply that same willpower to diet and exercise and you'll get the same results without all the side effects of the surgery. Gastric Bypasses are NOT reversible so you have the rest of your life to live with it if you don't succeed. Anyone wanting to know more about it can contact me or my wife and we'd be happy to discuss it more. YES, it CAN work and my wife is proof but for MOST people it simply isn't the best answer.
