bg is high with insulin
My bg is never below 200 range, and I take 60 units of lantus, at 6:00 pm each day, along with 10 units of humalog, before each meal, also I take a actos 45mg tab each day! That's just the meds for my diabetes! I am a 48 year old male, that was diagnosed with diabetes, when I was 38, but only on insulin, for last two years. I have a regular doctor, that just keeps uping the dosage, he finally set me up with a specialist, on January 10th, maybe he can give me some real answers, thanks for letting me vent!!

Welcome to the Forum!
The Endocrinologist can set you straight, if he will. You should also consider a Nutritionist, both of which needs to work with you as your "Diabetes Team". In the meantime do a tag search on "Carb Counting" and "Advanced Carb Counting". Carb Counting and a bolus insulin injection, for the carbs, will help you a lot. It works for many of us every day. Good Luck!

I am new to this and no kind of doctor. Diagnosed with type 2 about 6 weeks ago. I was 589 I learned of it. Went on a strict diet and got it back down in the low 100 range. At the suggestion of a friend I started eating a tablespoon of chia seeds with my oatmeal in the morning and another one at dinner time. Feel great and it helps my glucose during workouts. I won't try to talk you into anything but it's worth a google. Good luck

The 10 units of humalog before meal seems odd to me. You should administer as much insulin needed to cover your food intake. I count carbs. Also, when you meet with your specialist, look into a pump. I was diagnosed with type 1 when I was 35. I am now 56 and have been on the pump for 6 years. It is much more accurate and actually easier. Best of luck.
