Hi all,
Are you giving enough care to your foot? Usually, we used to ignore our foot, but you know foot care is very important to maintain a healthy life, especially for a diabetic patient. Recently I read an article about the benefits of foot care in elderly. It explains very well about the importance of foot care. My mother who is a diabetic patient had suffered a lot from diabetes-related foot problems. She used to experience numbness in her leg, but didn’t care at all, and she lost her leg. As we all know ‘prevention is always better than cure’. So do care your foot, stay healthy and be happy. Feel like sharing. Thank you all. Last edited by dano; 01-27-2017 at 08:48 PM. |

What do you mean by foot care? I am a diabetic and do have neuropathy in both feet. What should I be doing to take care of them.

You should keep them moisturized well and have things like corns and stuff removed. Your feet are very susceptible to open sores and other issues so you need to be proactive. It also makes those things easier to spot when you take good care of them.

I was only diagnosed with type 2 last week so I'm still trying to take this all in. Every four weeks I go for a pedicure and get the gel colour polish on my toenails. I'm not really sure if I should continue with the gel now as it may hide any problems?

Diabetics should NOT go to a salon for pedicures. There is way too much chance of getting infection from their foot baths you soak in before they scrub your feet. Also they are not real careful in most nail salons and cuts will not heal as quickly and are more susceptible to infection when you are diabetic.
