Default done with blood tests

I went for preop blood work (I need a hiatal hernia fixed,) and the dr lab tech couldn't find a vein and took blood from my wrist. I look like a junkie and I told him this is the absolute LAST blood test I'm allowing My a1c was 5.7 again and I'm sorry but that is NOT a diabetics reading. I'm much better off staying away from the doctor and all his stress and just take herbs. Anyone agree?

I'm DONE, no more. I don't care if I drop dead, I won't be poked by a needle or an IV ever again. Every time I have to go through this my phobia gets worse and worse. I can't deal with the pain and anxiety anymore.

If you drink a lot of water before you go it will be much easier for them to find a vein. Hydrate with only water, though or you may mess up some tests. Also, when you get there tell them you are a hard stick and are a little phobic about needles and ask for there best phlebotomist. Never let the nurses at the doctor's office stick you. Go to the lab to be stuck. A regular phlebotomist will be much better at drawing blood than a nurse since that is all they do each day.

Also ask for the baby needles. Literally- they are for babies. I have terrible veins and always have issues. The smaller needles help.
