I'm currently 34 weeks and I have had trouble with my fasting numbers as well. Even after they put me on insulin at bedtime (in addition to the max dosage of metformin twice daily), I still had high fastings.
My magic combo was getting up to the right dosage on the insulin and a protein shake made with almond coconut milk for a snack. I have found if I don't test between 8 to 9 hours after I eat I get a high number.

Good luck to all!

I'm 29 weeks and was just diagnosed with GD. My out of bed numbers have been 110-126 but have managed to keep my other levels with diet. Doc says that the morning numbers are harder to control and since I'm +20 points over it'll be hard to manage it even with a snack. So they're putting me on insulin at night. I've been having plain Greek yogurt and some fruit as my snack but the dietitian said I'm not getting enough carbs at night. It like crazy but I'm going to try that snickers ice cream bar or upping my carbs with more ice cream tonight before my insulin comes!

I have the same issue with only morning fasting sugars. The others I can handle with diet (unless I'm sick. Then they skyrocket). What has helped me the most is a combination of a small snack (handful of oyster crackers or a bit of leftover green smoothie) WITH my meds taken at night immediately before bed (glyburide) AND 20-30 min waking or prenatal Pilates just before that (makes it so your metabolism stretches out the effect of the meds longer).

Good luck and hang in there!
