Default Setting Up My Glucose Buddy For Parent and Diabetic Child

My child has type 1 diabetes. I'd like to setup the My Glucose Buddy app on my child's iPod Touch, so my child can enter their glucose readings and insulin shot info. Then I'd like to be able to access and monitor this data via my separate iPhone and also via the glucosebuddy.com web site.

How should I got about setting this up? Should a create an glucosebuddy.com account for my child and a separate account for me that has access to my child's data? Or do I need to setup one account that both my child and I use?

Also, what version of the my glucose buddy app do I need, i.e. the free or paid version?

If you have any other useful info about a parent and child managing their diabetes via glucosebuddy.com or other web sites or apps, your comments would be welcome.

Thanks for your help.

Thumbs up

Hello. My husband and I both have glucose buddy on our iPhones and we only had to pay for it once. It doesn't matter who enters the information on which phone. The app has a sync button for the logs and both iphones and the glucose buddy website will update. Our son is 12 with type 1. This app works extremely well and is a great tool to use.

You need to create one (1) account. Note that the account's name and password must be the same on all devices, in order for the uploading and downloading of information to work correctly.

Either of the versions will work for uploading, but to get the information from the website to your iPhone you will need the paid version (GB Pro App) on your iPhone. That being said, if the account for the iPhones are all in your name, you can purchase the GB Pro App once and install it on all iPhones and/or iPads. iTunes will know that you have paid for the App and it is just a matter of installing it on all your devices. The GB Pro App is currently the most bang for your buck.

The directions for syncing your child's information to your iPhone can be found in the "GB Help" thread. There are also numerous posts from other users trying to do exactly what you have indicated. I am just trying to give you a heads up on the correct method of installation before you try this and have possible problems. Thanks for asking first, instead of trying this and asking questions in the middle of installation, as other before you have done.

Thanks for your help. My daughter and I have been using the app on her iPod and my iPhone and the website. It's been working great.

She enters info about her readings and shots on her iPod. I can see the info on my iPhone and website. Also, she can enter her info on my iPhone and it syncs to her iPod and the web.
