Overwhelmed
I am overwhelmed with so many emotions right now. In Jan of 2015 I got the news that I have type 2 diabetes. I didn't know or how to react to the news, I think I started to cry at the Dr.s office. Then when I got home I cried and cried to my husband. I am scared to death. I am on met form for now until I go back to my Dr. in May. If my A1c is still high then she will be thinking about changing my medications. I am stressed out and overwhelmed with checking my blood sugars and making sure I am eating right, when does the scared feeling and the worrying feeling go away.

Welcome to the Forum!
Stress only makes your blood sugar higher, calm down and accept that you have to make some changes. Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.

A1c
I had a follow up with my diabetes educator today, and my A1c went from 9.0 too 6.2. She is changing my meds up a bit because I can't handle the side effects of met form. I hope this new med's will continue to lower my A1c.

I have had type 2 diabetes for thirty years. You just have to will have to learn about your diabetes and learn how to control it. My first mistake was letting my primary care doctor manage my diabetes. Get yourself an endocrinologist they're so much knowledgable about our disease. Clam down and enjoy life.

Thank you
Echo,
Thank you for the advice, I have been doing some research on my own. The next time I go and see my Dr. I will let her know how I feel and what I think should be done to control my diabetes.. Thank you |
