greetings from Birmingham UK
My name is Damien,
I was diagnosed type 2 on Thursday 20th May 2010. This came as the second shock of the day as the first was a heart attack at the age of 41. This is all new to me, all a bit scary to be honest, my sugars are all over the shop but they are starting to level out a bit, my bgl upon entering the ambulance was 33.7 and I was told that I was and still am very lucky to be here. So be gentile with me as I really am a total newbie but a fast learner. Regards Damien |

Damien;
Welcome to the Forum! The 33.7 mmol/L equates to a Average Blood Glucose, in US, of 608 mg/dl. Yes, you are very lucky to be here and we are glad that you are. I hope you are doing better! Read all that you can on your condition, make some life style changes, test often, eat a sensible diet and you will be good as new in no time.

Damien -
Wow, what a day! I'm glad you made it! It is pretty scary when you are new. But I have mentioned to a few people, if you have to have a condition at least you can be in control of diabetes. Once you get over the initial shock, you will find there are a lot of options to take care of yourself. Good luck. -Ryan |
