grams of food, or grams of carbs?
This is my first day using this app, and I've been trying to figure out the food grams log section. Should it just be carbs, or is it the total food?

I just use Carbs, since the measurement is in grams. Take a look at the "GB Help" thread for food input procedures. Read the first three threads in the Type 2 section, when you get a chance. Good luck with your control and management.

re: carbs or grams
I have been putting carbs for each meal instead of grams, but the food description doesn't show up just how many carbs I have been taking at each meal. Do I need to have the actual foods I am eating at each meal , for doctor visits, or can I just show how many carbs I am taking? This is only my second day using the app, still trying to figure it out, but I do like it. Just not sure if I am doing something wrong or if this how everyone else is doing it.

You are inputting the food correctly. The doctor should be happy with the carbs number. If you want to actually log your food, try inputting your meals in a third party software app. This way, if you doctor wants to see exactly what you are eating, you can print him a complete list. The apps that I use are listed in my last post in the "Carb Counting 101" thread.

It is grams of CARBS. (Not the "grams" as a weight measurement). As a diabetic you are primarily interested in counting grams of CARBS since this is the food group that will immediately raise your blood glucose levels. Protein, and Fats are the other two food groups and they do cause blood glucose to rise....but not as quickly and in different ways. For now...focus on getting good at "carb counting". This will be your saving grace
and allow you the ability to eat more of the foods you want. |
