Default Averages

Hi there,

I am new to this software. I am interested to find out some details RE: how the averages are calculated.

Do the averages in My Logs > My Graphs show the mean result of all the averages which I upload? Or does it interpolate between all of the values I upload, and find an average with relation to time?

The latter I think could be really useful. I understand that it could be misleading, if I uploaded a Glucose measurement which was v. high, came back after a few weeks without uploading something more data. In that scenario it would assume I was radically high for the duration...

Thanks in advance,

B

P.S. I'm really impressed by the usability of GB. Great job.

In the GB App Graph:

The "Red Line" is your input highest reading.
The "Purple Line" is your calculated average.
The "Blue Line" is your input lowest reading.

The "Green Horizontal Bar" is your target range.

The information is pretty much the same on the website also.

Hey dano,

Thanks for the information.

I was more enquiring about how the averages are calculated. (1) The sum of all the values, divided by how many. (2) Integrate the curve with respect to time (between 2 points)?

For instance:

If at 12:00 my BG was was 15.0, and at 18:00 my BG was 4.0
And I take readings at 12:00, 12:10 (assuming my BG hasn't changed much), 13:00, and18:00

(1) would give an average of around ~11.75
(2) would give an average of around ~9.5 (which would be more accurate)

I believe this information to be correct, but don't hold me to it. Basically, it is the sum of all the values, divided by how many.

In App:

My Info Averages - An average of every BG data records input.

Graph - Purple line average per day of all BG data records input during that day.

Web Site:

Graphs - The average at the top of the graph, is the average for the data that you have chosen to view for that period (ie 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, 90 days). This can be very helpful.

The app does not calculate mean and standard deviation like some of the meter software's.
