Morning High BS
Danny makes a good point, adding exercise will help overall blood sugar levels. It may also be a good idea to talk to your doctor and let them know what you are experiencing. They may suggest a different dose of the metformin, a different time to take it, adding a dose, adding another agent...there are a whole lot of possibilities.

I have started drinking a tall glass of water with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in addition to, but not at same time as medication. I can't believe the lower morning results. I'm a type 2.

This is doctor info:
If you are on a pump, increase basal at midnight, or all the time. If you do the latter, decrease afternoon carb to unit ratios. If you are not on the pump: Do you take long acting in the morning? If so, switch it to before bed. If not, increase the dose a little. As men, our hormone are pumping the most in the morning. This causes the insulin to be less effective. If you don't feel comfortable with the upper solutions, or it's not enough, add a different carb ratio in the morning so you take more short-acting. This is recommended for diabetics even if they don't have highs in the morning. Talk to a doctor. |
