HbA1c measures
Are there any plans to allow logging of HbA1c readings to the proposed new (maybe not that new) universal mmol/mol measurement in addition to the current DCCT percentage measure? It seems that laboratories in many countries will be adopting the mmol/mol measure for HbA1c lab tests and many will be reporting both on pathology reports. Australia will move to the new system sometime soon, Some Euro countries have already done so but I'm not sure what the US is doing. See http://www.aacb.asn.au/admin/?getfile=2802.
The GB web site's A1c estimator includes the mmol/mol measurement but the iPhone app doesn't as yet have it to log lab results in that format (well, not that I've been able to find). It just has the % measure for its logs. Are there any plans to update the app to incorporate the mmol/mol for HbA1c logs? It would be good if the app could cater for both to save conversion. Some countries will cease reporting the old pergentage measure, others will report both. For those that are technically minded, the conversion formulae are... Where P = the current HbA1c percentage measure, and Q = the new mmol/mol measure To convert the old percentage measure to the new mmol/mol measure… Q = ((10.93 x P) - 23.5); and To convert the new mmol/mol measure to the old percentage measure P = ((0.09148 x Q) + 2.152) Examples: Old HbA1c of 6% is… ((10.93 x 6) - 23.5) = 65.56 – 23.5 = 42.08(mmol/mol) New HbA1c of 57 mmol/mol = ((0.09148 x 57) + 2.152) = 5.21436 + 2.152 = 7.366(%) [I just knew you'd all be fascinated by that :-)] |

HbA1C
Just loaded GB onto my iPhone, and spotted the same limitation for what seems to be an otherwise excellent app.
In the UK HbA1c has been given in mmol/mol for a year now. It should be easy for GB to give the option. For now I'm putting the % in, and the mmol/mol in the notes. Also, would be useful to be able to graph these - that might be possible, I'm new the the app, but don't see it obviously. There are a lot of posts on here, not sure how much the GB developers will get a chance to read, so I'll also email this to their support. Gav |

Thanks for your suppport on this issue, gavvymc. My original post has been viewed 170 times so far but "no answer came the stern reply". That's disappointing. Maybe you'll have better luck.
I think I'll do the same with recording both measures. Great suggestion. Thanks again. Adrian |
