Default glucose test anomaly...

Hi all
This morning when i woke up I tested my blood as always and it was at 2.6...the lowest ever. I didn't feel hypo so I tested again on another finger and it said 3.2. I though what the hell and did a third test which came out to 2.8.

I did a test solution on my contour tester and it was correct to the test strip pack test levels.

Anyone else had this? I assumed these testers are more accurate than this.

Thanks

Interesting. I went to see the nurse and asked he the question. Apparently it could be a mixture of the machine not being super accurate and whilst pancreas is still working a little it makes small adjustments ever second of every day do it would have had an effect.

Interesting. Regarding the machine. They're not 100% but they aren't anywhere near 20% out these days. According the the instructions in a blind test they are a couple of percent out compared to the non portable machines used at the hospital.

Did you wash your hand prior to taking the tests? Yes, I've also tried to take multiple tests in a row (2-5) and it varies somewhat. My highest variation was 0.8mmol/l!!! But, with clean hands the variations are slim to none. (+- .2) Regarding you not feeling hypo with a 2.6 BG, I don't know if you know, but if you get a really low GB 2-3 during night, your brain "resets" and your body won't go hypo during the day at the same levels. I've heard and read about persons with T1 that go into a rage state when superlow. As they don't get the hypo signal it can go fast and be real nasty. If you feel that you've tested low and not feeling the hypo symptoms, it might be a good thing to get a continuous measurement over a few nights to see what happens during night hours...

Hey mate, if you did not get symptoms the first thing I would check is how long you had been hypo for. Sometimes if your sugars are dropping slowly you may only get slight symptoms and not notice. Another thing to look at would be how many hypos you have had. If you are low quite often your body adjusts and your symptoms change. Sometimes after having diabetes for a long time your symptoms disappear. Check with your endo cause if this is the first time you have not had symptoms he may try to get you to raise your A1c.
