Default Diabetes and Me

Good Morning to all. I found out 2 weeks ago that I am a Type 2 Diabetic and take Metformin twice a day. I can honestly say I just came out of the DENIAL stage and feeling pretty OVERWHELMED by it all. Do I check my sugar before or after I eat or both? Since I was advised to eat 6 small meals a day, I have no clue when to check my glucose levels. Since I only take Metformin twice a day it makes it impossible to know or do anything about an elevated glucose level between times to take Metformin. Argh I'm totally confused. I am going to a diabetes class but it's only once a month. Is there a BUDDY system that exists for newbies? Thanks a lot. Denise

Welcome to the Forum!

Read through the first three threads in the Type 2 Section, when you get a chance, if you have not already done so. These threads will most-likely help you a lot. Self education is one of the keys to successful management of your diabetes, along with a healthy / sensible diet and exercise. Basically, diabetes requires a life-style change for the better. Good luck with your control and management.
