Default Type 2 - My good experience with vegan diet

I have type 2 for the last 20 years. My sugars were always high and I did not know where they should be. I used to take 1000mg of Metformin. Read book and went vegan. No animal products, no meat, no milk, no cheese. My sugars began to lower doctor reduced Metformin to 500mg. Now I eat bran cereal with almond milk for breakfast, lunch and dinner big bowl of salad and 2 vegetable burgers( no bread).
Last time I tested my A1c was 5.6
Hope this helps to those who want to lower their sugars and want to know how.

I am trying to go vegan and have seen lower numbers as well. I still have an occasional turkey burger but would say I am 90% vegan. My goal is to get to the point I am eating only vegan meals.

I've been moving towards veganism too. What book did you read?

My wife and I tried the Whole30 diet plan; it's a 30 day diet where you do NOT eat dairy products, no sugars of any kind, wheat/breads, pasta...but you can eat all the meat, fish and veggies (except corn, peas..naturally my favorites!) and fruits you want. My resting blood dropped from 125 to 85 almost overnight! come to find out, dairy is my biggest contributor to blood issues. Since then, I've moved to almond milk and almost eliminated my cheese intake, blood is now consistently around 90....check it out...but you have to be MONOGAMOUS to the plan, else it will not work, even had to give up cream in my coffee (now I actually enjoy my hot coffee black, go figure).

Read book 'Reversing Diabetes' long ago don't know exact author.
I never believed him , but kept reading. The key here is no animal products, even milk I substituted with almond milk, eat lots of vegetables in salads( vegetables are free do not affect sugar) . Sometimes when I eat meat , it affects my blood sugar, animal products increase insulin resistance in the long run. I have just learned to survive with good A1c results
